About

Jeanne Moos is a national news correspondent based in New York. During her 34 years at CNN, Moos has covered national and international issues and ground-breaking news and features, but she soon carved out a niche with her off-beat, thoughtful reporting on the quirkier aspects of life. Since the 1995 debut of “Making the MOOSt of It,” Moos has examined everything from three-legged pantyhose to two-headed turtles and recently has focused her reports on the quirky angles of the 2008 presidential campaign. Her reports now appear during Out Front as “MOOSt Unusual.”

Before producing her distinctive reports, Moos covered developments at the United Nations during the Gulf War, and her coverage earned her the 1991 Korn/Ferry International Journalism Award. Additionally, in 1989, Moos reported on the Beijing student uprising and interviewed Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev. She also has covered cases involving political corruption, most notably Abscam in 1981.

Before joining CNN, Moos served as a correspondent at WPTZ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Plattsburgh, N.Y. When she arrived in 1976, she was the first woman correspondent hired by the station. While at WPTZ, she covered a variety of local and national stories, including the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, N.Y..

Moos received the 1988 Front Page Award in the Feature Category from the Newswomen’s Club of New York. In 1989, she won a News and Documentary Emmy for her part in CNN’s coverage of the Beijing uprising. Moos also was part of the CNN team that won a Golden ACE Award and duPont Award in 1988-89 for coverage of events in China.

Moos earned a bachelor of science degree in public communication from Syracuse University.
