We should kick off with the release order but before we get into that, let me give you a gist of what to expect. Have you watched Death Note? Now if you have not watched Steins; Gate I would recommend watching Death Note first because both anime have a lot of similarities.

In both anime, Steins; Gate and Death Note, we see both the main characters of the anime trying to change the world in their own way.

In Death Note, the main character is Light Yagami, a brilliant high school student who comes across a notebook belonging to Ryuk, a shinigami, that is like a death demon. Now, whoever comes in possession of this book has to follow certain rules.

This is because the book allows the user to kill anyone by writing their name in the notebook while picturing their face. Don’t get me wrong, Light was using the power of the book to kill criminals but along the line, his methods became too psychopathic.

He started feeling like a god because of the way he was passing judgment and took things a little too far I would say more but the best experience is received when watched.

But we are not here today to talk about Death Note, we are here for Steins; Gate, in this anime the main character in Steins; Gate who is Okabe is a genius, he is a nice guy who claims to be a mad scientist. I mean, he does have some nice inventions but his world changes when he mistakenly creates the time machine.

Well, it is a machine that actually sends text messages to the past which then alters the present time. That is just a brief summary. I would try not to give out any spoilers but here is the release order of the anime;

This special episode occurs several months after the Steins; Gate timeline was created. The main character, Okube, and his friends get invited to hang out with a friend who is going to take part in a Rai-Net battle in America.

There, they meet their old friend, Kurisu Makise, who for a while has been getting pieces of her memories from other timelines as dreams.

She meets up and talks to Okabe to ask him questions on whether the events from the alternate timeline actually occurred. But she actually means the romantic relationship between herself and Okabe.

This is the first spin-off of the anime series that was released, it follows Rintarou Okabe, who claims to be a mad scientist. He rented out a room to practice his hobby of inventing various things.

One day, he and his friends, Mayuri Shiina, Hashida Itaru, and Daru invented the machine called the “Phone Microwave,” which has the strange feature of transforming bananas into piles of green gel.

I mean, the invention didn’t really mean anything much but he and his friends tried improving the machine and noticed something, they noticed that the machine was able to send emails to the past, which would most likely alter things in the present.

This is an alternate storyline from the first series, here we follow the main character Okabe who is now depressed and traumatized because he was unable to save his friend Makise Kurisu. He stops acting like a mad scientist and decides to just be a normal college student.

Now, he is just doing his best to forget about his whole situation and the life of him being a time traveler. But all that effort came to an end when he was approached by Maho Hiyajo, who was a friend of Makise Kurisu.

She tells Okabe that they have created an AI that can store a person’s memory and create a perfect simulation of that person, complete with personality and characters. Okabe is given the opportunity to talk to the simulated version of a long-lost dear friend in the AI.

Okabe, who is dangerously entangled in the past, must face the harsh reality and carefully navigate around the disastrous consequences of disrupting the natural flow of time. I heard that there was going to be a live-action movie for this anime. What do you think? Would it be awesome?

I am really interested to see how their live adaptation of this anime will turn out. I heard it would be produced by Skydance television. Chiyomaru Shikura first announced the adaptation on January 26, 2020, on his Twitter account.

But a lot of people aren’t really hyped about the announcement because Skydance television had promised to make a live-action adaptation of the anime Sword Art Online back on August 2, 2016. And five years later after that announcement we haven’t seen anything.

So who knows when it will be released, and if it does get released how long will that take?
