Can you make just the wrapper filled with nutella beforehand and fry it whenever I need? If so, do I refrigerate it or freeze it?

    • Dina says

Hi Sharada 🙂 You should be able to make these ahead and have them sit for a few days in the refrigerator until you fry them. I have not tried making these ahead so I am not too sure how they will turn out. If you give it a try let me know 🙂

You’re welcome Irina. Most grocery stores have them. They are usually found in the refrigerated Asian food section. I always see them next to the spring roll wraps and tofu.

These look delish!!! Quick question, do u flip them when frying? Or put enough oil to submerge them completely?

    • simplyhomecooked says

Hi Olesya, I don’t flip them. They cook to fast for me to even flip them. Just make sure there is a good amount of oil. About 1 inch should be enough.

FAQs

How do you keep wontons crispy after frying? ›

The best way to keep fried foods crispy? Just place them on a cooling rack set over a baking sheet. If you're frying multiple batches, throw the whole setup into a low oven to keep everything warm as you keep frying and adding to the rack.

Why is my homemade Nutella grainy? ›

The original recipe calls for granulated sugar, but I found in some of my batches the sugar left a grainy consistency, so I used powdered sugar instead and it was perfect. Once you blend that up, set it aside while you melt your chocolate.

How to harden Nutella? ›

If you just drizzle regular Nutella over ice cream it gets a fudgy sort of texture, but melting it with a little coconut oil means it can be drizzled in a thin layer that hardens once it hits the cold ice cream. Keeps well for a month.

Do wontons get soggy? ›

Just like the real thing, wonton noodles get soggy quickly so you should add them right before serving. If you think you'll have leftovers, save some to add fresh when you reheat the soup.

What is the best oil for frying wontons? ›

I like to use either peanut oil or vegetable oil for deep frying. Both are neutral flavored and have a high smoke point. They can handle the amount of heat needed to make sure that your wonton strips fry up crispy without absorbing too much oil.

Why are my wonton not crispy? ›

Try dusting off the flour as much as you can beforehand and fry the wontons on low to medium heat for about 30 seconds to 1 minute or until the wrappers are golden and the bubbling starts to subside (a sign that the wrappers are crispy.) Tip : Remember, keep the heat medium low.

How do you keep Nutella smooth? ›

We place container of Nutella in a bowl of hot water... works faster if you put the amount you want in a small glass bowl and set it into a larger container of hot water. Melts but doesn't harden.

Does homemade Nutella need to be refrigerated? ›

Do I store Nutella in the fridge? No, we don't recommend storing your homemade Nutella in the fridge because it hardens up and then isn't spreadable unless you let it soften on the counter for a long time or warm it gently in the microwave first.

Can you microwave Nutella to soften it? ›

If you'd like to use Nutella spread in a recipe or on your morning toast, you'll need to soften it to get it out of the jar. You can quickly melt Nutella by scooping it into a bowl and microwaving it gently. Or if you'd like to melt a larger amount, simply put the jar of Nutella into a bowl of hot water.

Should you put Nutella in the fridge? ›

Nutella® should be stored at room temperature between 18-24 °C (between 64 and 75°F). Keep the container tightly closed and store in a cool, dry place to maintain maximum flavor. Do not refrigerate Nutella®, otherwise it will harden and become difficult to spread.

How to stiffen Nutella? ›

If you want a stiffer consistency, chill the Nutella whipped cream for 30-60 minutes.

How to pan-fry wontons? ›

Heat a 10-inch/25cm non-stick pan over medium high heat, and add the neutral oil. Add the wontons in one layer to the pan, and fry for a few minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown and slightly crispy. With the pan still over medium-high heat, use a cover as a shield and add ⅓ cup water.

Do you seal wontons with water or egg? ›

The Bonnet

Begin by putting your filling in the middle of the wrapper and then folding the wrapper over into a half-rectangle, making sure to seal the edges with water.

How to tell when wontons are cooked? ›

Bring a wok halfway full with water to a boil, and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the wontons in batches until they float to the surface, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon.

How do you crisp leftover fried food? ›

Fried foods have the best chance of getting crispy again in dry heat. Place in an oven or toaster oven preheated to 400 degrees. It's best if you can reheat them on top of a rack so the item doesn't simmer in any excess grease.
