Lounge Review: Escape Lounge GSP (2024)

As this is my home airport I feel I should review the Escape Lounge here at GSP. I’m always impressed that this great little lounge exists here at GSP. The GSP Airport Escape Lounge is the only lounge available at the Greenville SC airport. This isn’t a huge airport and is probably one of the smallest airports in the country to have a lounge. The Escape lounge isn’t hard to find and is close to all of the gates, mostly because nothing is too far here at GSP.

July 2023: It’s been a while since I reviewed this lounge so I figure it’s time for an update.

Bottom Line: The Escape Lounge here at GSP is a great place to relax before a departure. The buffet has a good selection of both hot and cold items, there are some local draft beers at the bar, and while the space is small, it’s a nice place to be. I’ve been coming to the Escape Lounge GSP for about 4 years now and can highly recommend the only lounge here at GSP.

Escape Lounge GSP Location

The Escape Lounge is in the B concourse here at GSP. It’s on the first floor to the right of the stairs. You can just barely see the sign on the right here, its white lettering on green background is a little hard to make out.

Under the sign here is the entrance. It’s important to remember this is a small airport so it has a small lounge. It is an Amex partner lounge so that’s great. Just don’t expect A Centurion Lounge sized space.

The check in area is often unstaffed, the door chime will alert someone to come check you in. I’ve always had great service here, today was no exception.

The space is divided into 2 areas. In front is a lounge style comfortable area with soft chairs and sofas.

The dividing wall in the Escape Lounge separates the two areas in the lounge. To the left is the relaxing area with lounge style chairs, the right is the bar and buffet area.

Escape Lounge GSP Dining Seating

In the back is the bar and buffet area with several two-top tables. There is also a high bar seating along the back wall of the buffet area.

Looking back towards the front of the lounge. There are some booth style seats along the wall. Most of the seats have power outlets available, but not the cafe tables here in the buffet area.

Escape Lounge GSP Bar

Please excuse the old photo. The bar here at the GSP Escape Lounge is fully stocked and most drinks are included with entry. There are some drink options that are a slight up-charge, but I’ve found the complementary options to be very good. I like that they have a few local draft beers.

Escape Lounge GSP Buffet

Lounge Review: Escape Lounge GSP (9)

Like with the rest of the lounge the buffet at the Escape GSP isn’t large, but really punches above it’s weight.

There are several hot options that rotate throughout the day. This lunch selection today was soup, meatless meat balls, and a Mexican bean and chicken dish. There are also a selection of cakes, sandwiches, and salads,

Along the back wall are cookies, chips, salsa, and hummus.

There are some self serve drinks along the side wall, I should have known the tea was sweet, but I made a bad assumption.

These taps are not beer, those are at the bar, these ones are sparkling and still water. Beyond that is a coffee machine. There’s also soft drinks in the fridge.

There’s more than enough food here at the Escape Lounge to make a light lunch.

Escape Lounge View

This is the softer lounge area with a great view of the airfield. We’re on ground level here so watching the planes from this vantage point is good fun.

Escape Lounge GSP Final Thoughts

I love this lounge. It’s been one of my favorites for a long time, mostly because it’s at my home airport.

GSP has really come a long way since I started flying from here 10 years ago. Little old Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, you really wouldn’t recognize it as the same place. Having an Amex partner lounge is really top notch, this one in particular is a great place to visit.

I rarely get so lucky with timing. This lounge had just re-opened this week. Having a place to relax on a Friday afternoon before a flight is just what we needed. The staff was on point the whole time, offering to refresh drinks, food, and water. I don’t always have time (I’m habitually late to airports), but when I do get to the airport early, I’m glad that this place exits.
